Beaconhouse is aware of the concern following the recent release of the AS and A Level results. Changes in grade boundaries and equitable grade calculations have been largely attributed to the impact of the pandemic.
We are cognizant of the distress experienced by our students, particularly those who were not able to meet the conditional offers from colleges and universities. We are also aware that some of our students are considering retaking the examination in one or more subjects to improve their grades.
Beaconhouse has always prided itself on its role in preparing students for success across academic, professional, and personal domains, and we empathise with the apprehensions stemming from these grading concerns. To this end, we are offering a range of measures to provide tangible support to our students, ensuring that they can still pursue their educational aspirations.
For students intending to improve their A2 results by resitting in the October/November 2023 series, we are offering to send their entries through their school. This means that their retake transcripts will carry their school’s name rather than identifying them as private candidates.
Additionally, where possible, these students will have access to the following services – free of charge:
- Support from school management, including guidance on how to improve their grades.
- Facilitation by faculty members, who will provide guidance wherever feasible.
- Guidance from dedicated counsellors and career advisors, who can provide academic counselling and help students manage their stress and stay motivated.
- Access to essential school resources to support study and preparation, such as libraries, and labs
For AS students moving to A2, who aim to improve their AS grades, we recommend that they take the composite exams in May/June 2024. However, accommodations will be made if they choose to retake their AS Level exams in Oct/Nov 2023.
Furthermore, students who are considering retaking the AS examinations in one or more subjects will be eligible for scholarships upon release of the Oct/Nov 2023 results.
Our students’ success is our priority, and we remain committed to supporting their educational journey. For further information and inquiries, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school office.

UPDATE FROM CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL
18 August 2023
Cambridge has confirmed that any student who missed a component for Cambridge International AS & A Level on May 10,11, and 12, 2023 because exams were cancelled, may resit exams for that subject at a reduced cost, which will be announced by the British Council.
Cambridge has also said that students who ask to resit for their qualification should take all relevant components in November. This includes those they missed as well as those they took in June. Students who wish to resit their A Level should take all components, that is, both AS and A2.
